Two weeks ago we had Kristy Raley preach from our pulpit. We did this in conjunctino with hundreds of other churches during the month of February to recognize the gifting of all people by God, particularly women. This month of preaching is named for Martha Stearns Marshall who was an 18th-century Baptist preacher. WHBC is one of the few Baptist churches in Fort Worth to celebrate and enjoy having women in our pulpit. Over the past years we have had several women preach and they have each done an excellent job and I think you will agree they were all gifted and called by God to serve the church. I am thankful for a church that takes a bit of a radical, although Biblical view that all are gifted to preach the gospel. Thank you Kristy for reminding us of this!

This Sunday you will notice that our Welcome Center is a bit torn up. It seems as if there was a crack in the toilet and it cause it to continuoulsy run for a couple days. The workers are pulling up the floor, drying out the walls and cleaning up. Sometimes bad things happen, the good news is that we have insurance and our agent is leading us to believe we will be covered for clean up and repairs (A big thanks to Tom Watson for contacting the insurance and clean up crew). Our Sunday Schools and coffee pot will have to be moved, check with your teacher about where to meet. We will need to enter the building in the Chapin Rd. entrance. It will be like old times, sitting in the Chapin foyer visiting prior to Sunday School. With this in mind...

I found this devotional about being thankful to be very important this week:

A quote I found inspiration from:
Teilhard de Chardin wrote, 'Someday, after we have mastered the winds and the waves, the tides and gravity, we will harness for God the energies of love, and then for the second time in the history of the world man will have discovered fire."

We have a Sunday Fellowship Lunch following the service. We are going to continue our discussion about what our church need to become in order to meet the needs of our community. I hope you can attend!

Onward!
