I am so looking forward to being back in church Sunday after our vacation. I have been working on a message about being in God's Waiting Room that I am excited to share with you. I think it is a message our church can identify with and I am praying it will be helpful to your walk with Jesus.

We are heading down to drop off Dane on Thursday at BU. Many of you have gone through this and remember how packed with emotions this time is. Kelly and I greatly appreciate your prayers.

I found this article to be surprisingly helpful and practical:

If you have been through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and would like to lead a class at our church, please let me know. I think classes such as this would be a great offering for our community.

This post caught my eye since our Welcome Center is complete. Maybe we need to develop a Guest Services team -

Remember on 9/11 we will have a special service thanking and praying for our first responders. We have printed invite cards to start handing out to our neighbors that you can pick up on Sunday in the Welcome Center. Personal invitation still is the best and most effective way to have people come to our church.

Finally, if you find yourself in need of some 'coaching' give me a call and we can tackle what you are dealing with in a positive way.

Let me know how I can pray for you.

See you Sunday!

What a meaningful time of worship we had this Sunday. I am excited about taking a deeper look into discipleship and 'Going Deep with God' for the next few weeks.
I have always found the summer to be a great opportunity to press in and learn a lot about God. I pray your summer is fruitful in your spiritual growth.
On Sunday I gave you a suggestion to take 2 minutes of silence before God prior to your Bible reading and 2 minutes of silence after your Bible reading as a 'new discipline' to use for spiritual growth. Silence can be intimidating, some of the best advice when using silence as a spiritual discipline I have received is to simply count out 7 breaths. Then start over at 1 and count out (silently) 7 more breaths. It helps the mind to stay focused on being in front of God. Hope that helps. Let me know if the silence works or if you have questions about spiritual growth.
Here is some interesting health research from a fine institution:
Thom Rainer has a couple of very good articles that are always thought provoking:
Stay cool and enjoy summer 'going deep!'
