Connection Groups are in full swing for the fall semester. Our Connection Groups provide our first and strongest line of congregational care. Each member of the group learns to support, pray and care for the others in their group so no one ever feels alone. Are you in a group, you should be! Contact Terri and she can help you get plugged into a group, terrib@westernhills.life. Small groups make the church come alive!

As a church we know we need to 'grow young' but how do we do this? In a great book, Growing Young by Kara Powell research suggests that churches can grow younger and be attractive to young people. (Here is an article if you do not want to read the book), Think about he suggestion in the last paragraph of the article as it could spur on some neat ideas.

Please be praying for our youth Connection Group - thanks Janet for leading this. Each of the youth are incredible and it is such a privilege to have them in our church.

Celebrate Recovery - here is a great story about how CR can help! Keep your eyes open for our first CR planning meeting.

Events this month
10/8 WH 101, an introduction to Church life at WHCC.

A verse to help you grow:

What has God called you to do during this season of your life? How can you serve/minister at WHCC? The one great things about being a follower of Jesus is that God is NEVER finished with us and ALWAYS has a place for us to be 'in His service.' Every Christ Follower has a place to serve in the local church to make it stronger, and a place in the world to minister to those outside the church. Have you discovered your 'places?'

Here are some 'places' where you can plug in at our church - Opportunities to Serve
  • If you have a heart for and a desire to teach about finances.
  • If you love to help people find a place to serve.
  • If you enjoy writing notes to our guests.
  • If you love missions and want to help organize our December food packing event.
  • If you love social media.
  • If you love cleaning out and throwing out things.
  • If you want to help cook for a November 5th lunch/financial seminar.
  • Please email ccobb@westernhills.life
Church Health
Why are we focusing on the '5 Purposes' as a model of church health? The short answer is that Jesus highlighted these 5 as what we should be doing.
Know God personally. (Worship)
Participate in God's family. (Fellowship)
Grow spiritually. (Discipleship)
Serve God's church. (Ministry)
& Share God's love with others. (Evangelism)

A practical reason is that when we focus on doing what Jesus said to do we build church UNITY and a common purpose reduces conflict.

“Let there be real harmony so there won’t be any splits in the church… Be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.” – 1 Corinthians 1:10 (LB)

“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” – Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

Our small groups (Connection Groups) are beginning this week. We have one that meets Sunday morning, a couple meeting Sunday early afternoon and evening and groups meeting during the week. If you are not connected to a small group contact Terri Barron at terrib@westernhills.life and she can give you all the info.

We have our WH 101 Class- our introduction to who we are and what we do called STARTingPoint scheduled for Sunday 10/8, register here.

Do you like to de-clutter - to simplify? Here is a great article about getting rid of things, it just may make you more happy.

And a funny VIDEO for you to start your weekend with.

Praying that we fulfill our God given Purpose as a church.
Onward - Chris
